Suffolk County police have identified the remains of a woman discovered packed inside a suitcase on Long Island.

Suffolk County police said Seikeya Jones’ body was abandoned behind an apartment building in Huntington. The terrible find was made just before noon on Tuesday in a forested area near Nassau Road in Huntington, authorities said.

The medical examiner is still investigating how the 31-year-old died.

Those who knew Jones stopped by the location where she was discovered on Thursday as the mystery of how she ended herself there deepened.

“We called her Keya,” Mary Waldron explained. “She was a very sweet girl. She was constantly smiling. “She was always happy.”

Waldron informed reporters that Jones had gotten into difficulty and “changed and kind of ended up on the streets.” Nonetheless, her friends attempted to communicate with her.

Jones, who was reported missing last month, was homeless, according to police. According to her pals, this wasn’t the first time she had been reported missing.

Residents of the apartment building where Jones was discovered gave NBC New York a doorbell video that purported to show her walking inside with an unidentified man last week. Two people who knew Jones confirmed that the hazy footage was of her.

Police have not disclosed whether the individual is connected to the ongoing inquiry.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad investigators at (631) 852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
