A guy from Bay County is being charged with various offenses in connection with a fatal accident that occurred in Panama City earlier this year.
Mark Pegg, 32 years old, was driving north on Highway 231 near County Road 390 on March 23 when his car collided with the rear of a Bay County Sheriff’s Office prisoner transport van that was halted. This information was provided by the police.
It was discovered by the investigators that Pegg did not make any attempt to break the vehicle before it was involved in the collision. The vehicle was stopped at a red traffic light.
Kristen Clark, who was pregnant at the time of the accident, was killed, and her unborn child also perished as a result of the collision. Another youngster, aged five, sustained injuries. Minor injuries were sustained by Pegg, who was sent to Bay Medical Center.
According to the police, he voluntarily gave a blood sample for the toxicology lab to analyze. Based on the findings of the sample, it was determined that Pegg was under the influence of methamphetamine at the time of the collision.
Pegg is being charged with two counts of manslaughter by DUI as well as child abuse. His bond is set at $225,000, and he is now being detained in custody at the Bay County Jail.
