Badminton Hopeful Beiwen Zhang in Round of 16, Aiming to Secure Team USA’s First Medal

Beiwen Zhang, who represents Team USA and is the best prospect for the US to win its first-ever badminton medal, is currently in the Round of 16.

Zhang was victorious in all of her matches in Group K. She defeated Tiffany Ho (Australia) with a score of 21-9 21-4 and then prevailed against Nguyen Thuy Lin (Vietnam) in two very close sets, with the score being 22-20 22-20.

Zhang was born in China, but he moved to the United States in 2012 and eventually became a citizen with eight years of residency. Additionally, she has participated for the United States of America at each of the two most recent Olympic Games. She names Las Vegas her home.

Zhang was in the process of winning her match in the Round of 16 in Tokyo when she suffered an Achilles tear, which caused her to quit the competition. Since then, she has triumphed at the 2023 Australian Open, which coincided with the final match, which took place on the anniversary of the second anniversary of her injury sustained at the Olympic Games.

To finish her return and move past the point in the competition where she was forced to withdraw from the most recent Olympics, she will now wait to find out who her opponent will be.
