Authorities are pursuing a criminal case against a girl for allegedly shooting and killing her 16-year-old boyfriend.
David Anthony Vargas Acker, 16, was tragically shot on July 30 while playing with a gun with a girl and a friend, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Florida, as reported by Fox Orlando affiliate WOFL.
“He was only 16 years old and still had a long life ahead of him. “He was always so full of joy,” the family stated in a GoFundMe page to raise funds for the burial and legal bills while the investigation continues. “David brought laughter, joy, and light into every room he visited. He had plenty of affection to go around. This tragedy has left a great vacuum in the lives of everyone who had the opportunity to know David.”
Deputies claimed David carried the gun to the home in the 1100 block of Easton Street. That incident occurred early on July 30. He, his girlfriend, and the pistol were pointing at each other and posing with it. The girlfriend then pointed it at him and pulled the trigger, according to investigators.
The girl, who was charged as a juvenile, is now facing an aggravated manslaughter charge for a youngster. Authorities arrested her on Wednesday. “Just feels like a nightmare, and we want to wake up from it,” the boy’s mother, Veronica Acker, told the outlet on August 1.
“I haven’t eaten in three days,” his father, David Vargas, explained. “Cannot stop crying. I wake up and fall asleep crying. They almost had to drag me to my bed yesterday.” David Acker was the fourth of their six kids. He intended to graduate from high school early and work for his father as a contractor.
“David was the glue,” Veronica Acker explained. “He was the glue that kept this family together.”
