Arizona, you’ve done it again. The KTAR News and Arizona Sports 16th annual Give-A-Thon fundraiser for Phoenix Children’s raised a record amount of money for the third year in a row.
Arizonans responded generously, donating $2,369,000 to help the Valley’s most vulnerable youngsters.
Since 2009, the event has generated almost $26.3 million.
“Breaking a record like this doesn’t happen by accident,” Phoenix Children’s vice president of business partnerships and special events, Tim Harrison, stated. “Over our 16-year association with Bonneville, we have created the largest radiothon in the country via a lot of hard work and dedication on both sides.
They see the rising need to help the patients and families here at Phoenix Children’s and did not blink when we set the highest goal we’ve ever had this year. We asked Bonneville and their listeners to be champions for these kids, and they far exceeded our hopes.
All donations go straight to Phoenix Children’s Hope Fund, which supports necessary equipment, operations, charitable care, Child Life resources, virtual care, and research. Phoenix Children’s is one of the largest children’s hospitals in the country, with 433 beds.
The Give-A-Thon for Phoenix Children’s Hospital also retained its status as the leading children’s hospital radio fundraiser in the nation.
“Building up our community is a core value of ours, and there is no better demonstration than rallying our community with powerful storytelling that inspired a record-breaking $2.36 million for Phoenix Children’s,” Ryan Hatch, senior vice president and market manager of Bonneville Phoenix, stated.
“We are so grateful for our incredible audiences, sponsors, team partners, and hundreds of volunteers for their tremendous support of the Give-A-Thon.”
Your donations will make a difference at Phoenix Children’s, which had over 400,000 outpatient visits, 280,000 unique patients, and over 3,000 out-of-state patients last year.
Valley Hyundai Dealers and the Ak-Chin Indian Community collaborated to host the Give-A-Thon. Sponsors of the week-long event included Yrefy, Mattamy Homes, Trane Heating and Cooling, Ace Hardware, Presidential Pools, The UPS Store, Sonic, and Carl’s Jr.
