Mr. Joe Manchin (D-WV), who is Chairman of the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, announced that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) will give the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection $37,791,464 in grants to lower methane emissions from oil and gas wells that aren’t producing much. This money is possible thanks to Chairman Manchin’s Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).

“West Virginia is proud of its history as America’s Energy Powerhouse because it has helped power this country for generations.” The money from these grants will help us keep being leaders while also protecting the great outdoors and creating new jobs and business opportunities. Chairman Manchin said, “I am proud that the IRA continues to make our communities safer and healthier while also increasing our energy production.”
