Two individuals have been charged in connection with the recent shooting incident that resulted in one fatality and 22 injuries during the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl celebration, according to prosecutors who made the announcement on Tuesday.
Two individuals are facing murder and other felony charges in relation to a shooting incident outside Union Station last Wednesday.
Dominic M. Miller, 18, from Kansas City, and 22-year-old Lyndell Mays from Raytown are both charged with second-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action, and the unlawful use of a weapon. Each individual is currently being detained on a $1 million bail.
“We aim to ensure that every individual responsible is held accountable for their actions on that day. “Every single one,” Jean Peters Baker, the Jackson County Prosecutor, said during a news briefing. Baker mentioned that more individuals could face charges.
Prosecutors suspect that Mays engaged in a verbal altercation with an individual he was not acquainted with.
The situation intensified rapidly, leading Mays to pull out a handgun, according to Baker. “Mays was the first to pull out his handgun,” she stated.
Miller proceeded to draw his handgun, according to officials. It is suspected that he shot Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a local radio disc jockey and mother of two children, who passed away from her injuries.
