Tragic news emerged when two young children lost their lives after being discovered unresponsive in a car parked along Interstate 95 in Miami early Friday.
The driver, a woman, sustained critical injuries after jumping off an overpass upon the arrival of the police, according to authorities.
There was an ongoing investigation causing traffic congestion north of Downtown Miami and resulting in delays for commuter trains.
Miami-Dade Police React to Golden Glades Calls
According to Miami-Dade County Police, 911 calls were received around 2 a.m. regarding the presence of a boy and girl in the backseat of a car parked on the Golden Glades Interchange, where I-95 meets Florida’s Turnpike.
This location experiences high traffic volume in South Florida.
Passersby were engaged in performing CPR.
Upon the arrival of officers and fire-rescue personnel, the woman leaped off the overpass and landed on the train tracks below.
Officers discovered the children and they were immediately transported to the hospital, where they were tragically pronounced deceased.
