When the parents of a 12-year-old girl from Culver City woke up on December 2, their daughter begged them to call the cops.
“Mom, we need to call the cops,” I hear you say. Am I hearing you right? Do I understand you correctly? “By the third time, she was very direct,” Alexis, the girl’s mother, said. “‘Call the police, Mom.’ That’s what we did.”
At about 7:45 a.m., police were called to a home in the Blair Hills neighborhood because a girl had been sexually attacked in her bedroom. For hours before leaving the scene of the crime at 7 a.m., the attack happened between 2 and 3 a.m., Culver City police said.
The thief got in through a window. Alexis said he walked out the front door. The man seen leaving the house on a neighbor’s security camera is being looked for by the family and the cops.
“She’s a soldier,” Alexis told her daughter. “She looks good on the outside.” We’ll see how bad the damage is in due course.
Tuesday, police shared the picture from the security camera to try to find the man.
“At this point, we think this is a one-time thing,” said Jennifer Atenza of the Culver City Police Department. “We are looking to locate the suspect and that is the help we are seeking from the public.”
People who knew anything about the crime were asked to call 310-253-6302. Tipsters who want to stay secret can send emails to [email protected].
