Cold and Sunny Today, Then Rain and Warmer Temperatures for the Rest of the Week

New York City, NY– Good morning, everyone. First and foremost, it is possible to be both peaceful and wet. Compared to the weather we’ve had, which has included huge rains, enormous flooding, severe storms, and the occasional snowfall, this is considered peaceful for the season thus far.

We have one more really cold day today, then our genuine arctic air will take a rest until February. We have a daisy-chain system approaching on Tuesday, which will bring waves of low pressure our way over the following several days. As of now, one of the more pressing concerns in terms of snow appears to be slipping out to sea with little to no consequences. If something changes, we’ll be aware of it.

We’ll also keep an eye on a disturbance moving down from the Great Lakes around the end of the month to see if this Clipper system turns a bit spicy, but other than that, we have nothing on the table right now but some rain.

Today is going to be sunny and very cold again. Today’s highs will be between 25 and 30 degrees, and tonight’s will be in the upper teens to low 20s.

We start to change tomorrow with sunshine in the morning and more clouds in the evening. The highs will be between 35 and 40 degrees, and the lows will be in the mid to upper 20s overnight. Tomorrow, we are just like any other day at this time of year.

Tomorrow, the clouds will keep getting thinner and thinner, and it might start to rain sometime between noon and night. Depending on how early it starts, there may be some graupel or sleet mixed in at first, but this is mostly rain. Tuesday’s highs will be in the upper 30s to low 40s.

It will rain on and off again on Wednesday and Thursday. It will be cloudy and cold, with highs in the mid-40s on Wednesday and 45–50 on Thursday. Friday will also be cloudy and rainy, with highs in the low 50s.

We’ll keep a close eye on that system over the weekend, but for now, we’re just guessing how much sunshine to clouds we can expect as that system passes by or doesn’t.
