In reaction to recent revelations on former President Obama’s critique of the Biden campaign’s structure and his anxiety about former President Trump’s strength as a political contender in 2024, the Biden team defended its plan.

Quentin Fulks, President Biden’s reelection campaign’s principal deputy campaign manager, defended the campaign’s approach on Sunday, emphasizing that Obama and Biden agree that Trump must be defeated.

“We’re going to keep doing what we need to do to stay competitive and to ensure we’re building the infrastructure we need to win.” When asked how the campaign is responding to Obama, Fulks remarked on NBC News’ “Meet the Press” that “President Obama and President Biden talk frequently, as do the campaign and former operatives from President Biden’s administration and his campaign.”

“But one thing is that we’re both in agreement that we need to stand up to MAGA extremists and the threat they pose to freedom and democracy.” So that’s what we’re concentrating on.”

“The president has made it clear that his experience as [vice president] serving with President Obama was critical to the experience he brings to the job and what he’s been able to accomplish.” But we are unified in the notion that we must do everything possible to oppose Donald Trump and the threat he brings to democracy,” he added.

Fulks’ support of Obama and his reelection campaign comes after The Washington Post published a story about worries Obama made to Biden over a lunch at the White House in December. Obama allegedly told Biden that having additional top-level decision-makers in the campaign headquarters in Wilmington, Del., is critical, or that he has to empower those who are already there.

Fulks did not respond to a specific follow-up question about whether the campaign intends to make fundamental changes.

However, he stated that the campaign has been “awake” since April and that Americans are only now beginning to pay attention.

“Look, our campaign has been awake since the president announced his candidacy in April, which is why we’ve come out swinging.” It’s why we put [novel] organizing initiatives in place to start communicating with voters on the ground, and why we’ve made investments in constituency media, the largest investment in voters of color, Hispanic voters, and young voters in history.”

“And now we’re in the phase where more Americans are paying attention to what’s going on,” he concluded. That is why we have made the decision. The first of these was the president’s speech at Valley Forge. We’ll do it again in South Carolina tomorrow. And we will keep making that point to the American people. Because we are running and organizing this campaign as if democracy is on the ballot. Because that is what this election is all about.’
