The man who is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol onto the patio of the Park Tavern and murdering two people entered a plea of not guilty during his court appearance on Tuesday afternoon.
Two allegations of third-degree murder and two counts of criminal vehicular homicide were brought against Steven Bailey, who is 56 years old. Additionally, nine other counts relating to illegal vehicular operation were brought against him in connection with the crash that occurred in September.
The allegations include that Bailey attempted to park his vehicle, but instead drove south through the parking lot in the direction of the restaurant patio, causing multiple persons to be struck.
A preliminary blood alcohol concentration of 0.325, which is four times the legal limit in Minnesota, was allegedly blown by him. Moreover, according to his driving record, he has a history of driving while intoxicated. 2014. That was the most recent one.
As a result of the accident, Kristina Folkerts, a mother of three who worked at Park Tavern, and Gabe Harvey, who worked at Methodist Hospital, both lost their lives. Nine additional people endured injuries that included fractured legs, brain trauma, lacerations, and bruises, among other types of ailments.
Over the course of the days that followed the tragic collision, a monument was established in front of the well-known restaurant in St. Louis Park, and hundreds of people came to pay their condolences.
The date of their trial has been set for May 12th.
