Ten people were hurt after a police traffic officer on a motorbike collided with bystanders during a weekend holiday parade in Palm Springs, California, authorities said.
According to authorities, all of the injured were transferred to hospitals on Saturday night for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, including the officer.
Witnesses told The Desert Sun newspaper that the police were doing a wheelie and then lost control of the motorcycle.
The bike slid into the mass of people, bringing the celebratory celebration to a halt for over an hour.
According to authorities, some emergency personnel in the parade assisted the injured, including ambulance and fire truck staff still decked out in holiday lights.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m., as crowds gathered to watch the 32nd annual Palm Springs Festival of Lights Parade, which regularly draws 80,000 to 100,000 people.
