Cold weather is entrenched in the Northeast, with another blast of cold air expected to arrive on Thursday. This one will be a strong wind, with blustery weather, sporadic showers, and light snow in its wake. We’ll keep the chilly to cold air around through the weekend, which may help set the stage for some freezing rain and/or snow to fall between Monday and Tuesday with our next storm system.

Meanwhile, abnormally chilly air has made its way down to the Southeast and is proving to be persistent. Heavy frost and freeze conditions are forecast again tonight and early tomorrow morning in parts of Georgia and Florida. The primary emphasis of subfreezing temperatures appears to be south-central Georgia and sections of north Florida. Temperatures will most certainly change on Friday, with a much milder weekend forecast.

Meanwhile, some much-needed rain is falling throughout the southernmost area of Texas as Gulf of Mexico energy rushes onshore. Expect sporadic heavy showers and thunderstorms to move throughout the area before clearing to the north and northeast. Over the next few days, we’ll see heavy showers and thunderstorms develop in areas like Houston and Dallas, then spread to Louisiana and Mississippi as that energy is pushed back toward the coast.

There is a possibility of localized severe weather tomorrow and Wednesday. Prepare for the possibility of locally destructive winds, hail, frequent lightning, and torrential rain. We could also witness an increase in the likelihood of waterspouts around coastlines.

Today’s weather remains sunny and cool, although with lighter breezes. Expect highs in the upper 30’s. Tomorrow’s temps will be near 40 degrees, with additional sunlight.

Clouds return later on Wednesday, but not before some early sun and highs approaching 40 degrees. Temperatures will reach the mid-40s ahead of our next system, then decrease throughout the day on Thursday as blustery winds develop. We’ll see some scattered showers, but the majority of the action appears to be inland.

Friday looks cold and windy, with highs in the mid-30s at best.

A weak disturbance will pass through later on Saturday, with the possibility of a few scattered flurries from the afternoon onward. High temperatures will range from the upper 30s to near 40. Sunday looks cool, with a persistent breeze, sunshine, and highs around 40.
