Cold and Cloudy Week Ahead With Snow Showers, Mountain Snow Accumulation, and Highs Ranging From 35°F to 45°F

The Storm Team 11 Forecast predicts rising clouds throughout the evening. There will be a 50% probability of snow showers overnight and early Tuesday morning. The low-temperature tonight will be 22 degrees.

Accumulation until Tuesday afternoon will mostly favor mountain elevations over 2,500 feet, where 1-2 inches are expected. Ridge lines in southwest Virginia and eastern Kentucky might receive 0.5-1 inch of rain.

Elevations above 5,000 feet in the Smokies may receive at least 4 inches, if not somewhat more. Some lower elevations in northeast Tennessee and southwest Virginia may see a trace to 0.5 inches. Communities closer to the mountain foothills may experience up to an inch.

Snow will reduce to flurries for the remainder of the morning, with clouds progressively clearing by the afternoon. The high will be approximately 35 degrees. The skies will be fully clear by Tuesday night, with a low of 17 degrees.

A few passing high clouds are possible on Wednesday, with a high of 45 degrees. The skies will be largely cloudy Wednesday night, with a few light scattered showers and snow showers emerging after midnight. The low will be 32 degrees.

Thursday will be partly cloudy, with a 30 percent chance of valley rain and mountain snow showers. The clouds will thin off around late afternoon. The high will be 40 degrees. Thursday night will see clear skies and a low of 15 degrees.

On Friday, we will see largely sunny skies and a cool high of 36 degrees. Clouds will rise Friday night, with a low temperature of 20 degrees.

Saturday’s sky will be largely cloudy, with a 20% chance of stray showers. The high will be 45 degrees. Showers will increase on Saturday night, with a low of 34 degrees.

Scattered showers will become more frequent on Sunday, with a 50% probability of rainfall. The high temperature will be 52 degrees, which is slightly milder.

Showers and clouds will continue until next Monday, with a high of 56 degrees and a 50% chance of rain.
