An Ohio man is currently serving time in prison for reportedly providing his wife with a loaded gun when she threatened to take her own life. The woman subsequently used the gun to end her own life following the incident.

The firearm that Maria Krupienski, 81 years old, used to take her own life on Sunday at their house in Vermilion was allegedly handed to her by Michael Joseph Krupienski, 71 years old, according to the police.

Vermilion Police Chief Chris Hartung gave an interview to Fox 8 Cleveland in which he stated that when officers arrived, they discovered Maria dead from a gunshot wound that she had used on herself.

This information was provided to the police by Krupienski, who stated that the pair had been drinking at the VFW in Avon before going home.

He stated that the anniversary of their daughter’s suicide was approaching and that Maria, who was under the influence of alcohol, “made suicidal thoughts out loud.” He then went on to say that the anniversary was approaching.

Krupienski then went and fetched a revolver that was loaded with a.357-magnum and delivered it to her to “call her bluff,” according to the police. As a result, she took her own life.

Krupienski was taken into custody and filed with a charge of reckless homicide, which is a felony of the third degree. The arraignment of the defendant is scheduled to take place on Tuesday morning at the Vermilion Municipal Courthouse.

Currently, he is being held in the Erie County Jail without the possibility of a bond being set.
