Jacksonville MOTORCYCLIST KILLED in Collision With Pickup Truck; WOMAN IN STABLE CONDITION

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a man on Sunday when a truck collided with his motorbike near the 9100 block of Merrill Road.

According to JSO, a man and a lady in their fifties were riding a motorcycle around 2:28 p.m. They were in the inside lane, heading east.

A crew cab pickup truck pulled into Merrill Road from the northbound I295 exit ramp. The truck driver drove from the right to the left lane, colliding with the motorcyclist.

Both motorcycle riders were flung off their bikes into the pavement and raised center median.

They were subsequently transported to a hospital, where the man was pronounced dead. The woman is in stable condition. The truck driver has remained at the scene and is cooperating. JSO stated that there were no indicators of impairment.

This is the 88th traffic death in Duval County this year, and the 17th involving a motorcycle, according to JSO.
