MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. – An accident that occurred on the east side of Charlotte caused a portion of the Interstate 485 Outer Loop to be closed, according to the authorities.
According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), the collision took place on the Outer Loop at approximately 8 a.m. It occurred between Exit 41 for North Carolina 24/Albemarle Road and Exit 39 for Harrisburg Road.
A period of approximately one hour was spent with the Outer Loop’s three lanes being closed. As traffic slowly makes its way past the incident area, there is a possibility that there will be delays. The road reopened at approximately nine in the morning.
A medical examiner has confirmed that the collision resulted in the serious injuries of two individuals. WCNC Charlotte is in communication with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol to obtain additional information.
