FOUR DEAD, TEN INJURED in Texas Van Crash: DPS Identifies Victims and Investigates Cause

Authorities have identified the four persons killed and the ten injured in a single-vehicle incident in Wise County on Wednesday, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety news release.

According to the DPS, the van crash occurred just before 8 a.m. in the northbound lanes of US 287 in Alvord.

The preliminary investigation determined that a Chevrolet Express 3500 van was going on the highway when the driver went off to the left. The release adds that the driver overcorrected and lost control, leading the vehicle to roll over.

The DPS said that multiple passengers were thrown from the van, which was built to carry 15 people. Investigators stated only one passenger was wearing a seatbelt.

The three males who died on the scene were named as Diony Antoine, 46; JN Irard Vixamar, 42; and Ledene Pierre-Louis, 36. The report states that Antoine was driving the vehicle.

Geneve Louis, 28, a fourth female passenger, was pronounced dead at Medical City Denton Hospital, according to the DPS.

The other ten injured passengers were sent to hospitals in Fort Worth and Denton. They are identified as:

  1. Noel Fednel is 35.
  2. Dieudyrat Eliassaint is 33.
  3. Walnick Desir is 33.
  4. Reginald Neptune is 34.
  5. Marc Jean Lorkens Baptiste, age 25.
  6. Vincola Lecean, age 52
  7. Junior Louis, 35.
  8. Jean Edson is 35.
  9. Jean Philippe Durock is 47.
  10. Manius Vines, 44

According to the announcement, the victims were Florida residents of Haitian ancestry who were traveling from Florida to New Mexico. Authorities have not specified the reason of their journey, but the DPS investigation established that the tourists were not victims of human trafficking or smuggling, according to the release.

The investigation is underway.
