A Brownwood man has been given a life sentence for the serious crime of sexually assaulting a child while also engaging in bigamy.
Jason Anthony Padilla has been sentenced to life in prison for committing heinous crimes, including Sexual Assault of a Child – Bigamy, Indecency with a Child by Contact, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. This verdict was reached after a trial in Brown County, where Padilla was found guilty.
According to court documents, Padilla has been accused of engaging in sexual abuse with a teenager starting in 2020. According to reports, the abuse went on for over 2 years, during which Padilla would reportedly make the teenager consume alcohol and narcotics.
In Fall 2022, a child’s outcry prompted an investigation that resulted in the arrest of Padilla. Court documents revealed disturbing evidence of sexual abuse and domestic violence.
“It is truly humbling to have been able to support a survivor who has endured unimaginable hardships and shown immense bravery in speaking out against her abuser,” expresses Assistant District Attorney Cara Landers.
Padilla was given the highest possible sentence permitted by law for his offenses.
