MAN DIES AFTER BEING STRUCK BY GARBAGE TRUCK on Eastex Freeway: Houston Police

HOUSTON, TX  – An accident that occurred on the Eastex Freeway resulted in the death of a man who was struck by a garbage truck.

A little after five o’clock in the morning, the collision took place on the 14400 block of the Eastex Freeway. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office stated that the individual, who has been identified as Yunier Laza Chavez, was driving a 2003 Honda Accord in the direction of the northern direction.

In addition, a 2018 Mack chassis-cab (CMV) that was being utilized as a garbage truck was moving in the northern direction.

At one point, according to the police, Chavez swerved over all of the lanes of traffic. There was an attempt made by the driver of the trash truck to avoid colliding with Chavez by diverting into lane number 4, but Chavez unexpectedly swerved back into lane number 4.

The driver of the garbage truck couldn’t avoid Chavez, and he ended up colliding with him.

When emergency medical services arrived, Chavez did not exhibit any signs of life and was subsequently pronounced dead at the site.

There were no indications that the driver of the garbage truck was under the influence of alcohol, therefore he was allowed to leave the scene.

An investigation into the collision is still being carried out at this time.
