BALTIMORE – A Baltimore father received a ten-year jail term after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the murder of his two-year-old daughter.

Christopher Gamble left an unsecured, illegal pistol in the presence of his two-year-old daughter, who died of a gunshot wound in December 2023.

“This is a tragic example that shows the terrible effects of irresponsible gun storage and unlawful gun possession. “Today’s plea and sentence are a sobering reminder of the devastating effects that illegal handguns have had on our great city,” said State’s Attorney Ivan J. Bates.

On December 17, 2023, at 7:03 p.m., Gamble dropped off Charlee Gamble, a 2-year-old who had been shot in the head.

Gamble left the hospital, returned at 7:14 p.m. with the victim’s mother, and then departed again. At 7:32 p.m., Gambble returned to the hospital for the third time, dressed differently, and remained there with police who responded to a hospital call for a walk-in shooting.

Charlee Gamble died at 8:14 p.m., despite hospital staff’s best attempts to save her life.

Gamble allegedly told police that on the night of the incident, he placed a pistol on the TV stand, which he admits was unlawfully obtained for $600, and suggested that his daughter shot herself.

The defendant was forbidden from owning a regulated firearm at the time owing to a September 2021 conviction for second-degree assault.
