LOVELAND, Colo. — Authorities in Colorado say a man grabbed a teen by the neck and threw him to the floor of an In-N-Out Burger while the teen was saying sorry for splashing water on a woman. The man has been charged with choking and child abuse.

A guy from Loveland, 55 years old, turned himself into police on Tuesday, the same day that an arrest warrant was issued for him, police said. The amount of bail he was given was $75,000. His next court date is August 23, according to court records.

He hasn’t made a plea yet.

Around 1 a.m. on Aug. 4, police were called to the Loveland restaurant. A 15-year-old boy told police that he and two friends were splashing water on each other when they hit a woman by mistake.

Police say the man hit the girl as he walked up to her table to say sorry.

By the time police arrived, the man and woman had already left the diner.

Police said that witnesses were able to identify the suspect after watching videos of the event.

As a spokesperson for In-N-Out Burger said in an email, the company is aware of what happened and has “fully supported and cooperated with law enforcement during their investigation.”
