CINCINNATI – A former daycare worker for the Cincinnati Recreation Commission pled guilty on Monday to one count of criminal assault.

Yanna Harris, 28, was sentenced to 180 days in jail (with one day credited) and three years probation, according to Hamilton County Court records.

According to prior FOX19 NOW coverage, Harris physically attacked a youngster with Down syndrome at Sayler Park Recreation Center’s daycare during winter break last year, shortly before Christmas.

Harris was arrested on a misdemeanor count of endangering minors and then released on her recognizance, according to court documents. In January, a grand jury indicted Harris on charges of harming minors.

A jury trial was scheduled to begin Monday, Aug. 17, but Harris instead accepted a plea deal, reducing the charge to assault.
