CLEVELAND – A 26-year-old guy informed police that he was jumped by four teenagers wearing masks and stabbed in the knee.
However, surveillance video reveals a different story.
According to a Cleveland police report, the stabbing occurred on Monday, August 12, around 1:30 p.m. in Public Square. About an hour later, officers discovered the man at the junction of East 4th Street and Prospect Avenue. He told police that four teenagers wearing black clothing and ski masks jumped him and stabbed him near the intersection of East 12th Street and Chester Avenue.
An officer dressed the man’s wound with gauze. The man declined medical transportation and instead requested that one officer use his city-issued cell phone to call his fiancée to come pick him up. He subsequently left on his own, according to the report.
Tower City Security presented authorities with video footage, which appears to contradict the victim’s claim.
It showed that the man was in Public Square around 1:30 p.m. The footage shows a female parking a car in front of Jake’s Deli and running into the park. She then attacked and stabbed the man. She then went back to her car and fled the scene, as evidenced.
According to the article, police are currently exploring charges against the victim for hindering official business.
Police were unable to locate the stabbing suspect that day.
