21-year-old Charged in Fatal Shooting of 20-year-old at Harris County Apartment, Sheriff Reports

A man was taken into custody and charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of another individual that occurred at an apartment complex located in the northeastern section of Harris County, as stated by Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

An apartment complex on North Thorntree Drive, close to Uvalde Road, was the location where the incident took place on Saturday, July 20. Gonzalez stated that a man who was later determined to be Cesar Peralta, twenty years old, was discovered with gunshot wounds. It was determined that he had passed away at the site.

However, according to the investigators, Peralta was not armed on the day that the incident occurred.

Shortly after two weeks had passed, Gonzalez reported that Akili McDowell, who was 21 years old at the time, had been taken into custody and charged with murder in connection with the death of Peralta.

As of right now, McDowell is being held in the Harris County Jail on a bond of $400,000. Monday is the day that he is scheduled to make his initial appearance in court.
