A 60-year-old Michigan man has been charged with murder for allegedly beating his 95-year-old mother to death, according to authorities.
John Miko was charged with first-degree homicide, first-degree abuse of a vulnerable adult, and assault by strangulation in the death of his mother, Clara Miko. Clara Miko contacted 911 around midnight on Saturday, July 27, to say that her son had beaten her repeatedly and threatened to murder her.
Deputies arrived at the woman’s Denton Township home and saw her lying on the floor of her garage apartment. She was unable to move and had serious injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.
They discussed the situation with the victim before transporting her to a local hospital. Clara Miko died of her injuries later that day.
John Miko was discovered at the main residence, where he was allegedly intoxicated and uncooperative with authorities.
Investigators also determined that John Miko was on current probation for a prior domestic assault.
He was caught and sent to the county jail, where he is currently being held on a $100,000,000 bond.
