A 36-year-old man in Nevada has been arrested and charged with killing his fiancée, who was on the hood of his car when he allegedly accelerated and stopped many times while attempting to throw her off the vehicle. Alejandro Cisneros was arrested on Wednesday and accused of one count of open murder in the killing of Alondra Rivera, 28, authorities said.
Cisneros reportedly told police that after hurling Rivera from the car, he felt she was fine since she was a “strong woman.”
According to a news release from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, police and emergency medical professionals responded to a 911 call at 11:27 p.m. on June 28 concerning someone lying in the road near East Yuma Avenue and South Frank Street. When first responders arrived at the location, they discovered an adult female — later identified as Rivera — unresponsive and in the street. Medics pronounced her dead on the scene.

“Through the course of the investigation, detectives determined the victim was in a verbal altercation with an unknown person in an SUV while on the hood of the car,” the police said in their initial press release. “The SUV then came to several abrupt stops, causing the female to fall off and strike her head on the road.” The SUV then exited the scene before officers arrived. “This is an ongoing investigation.”
Several days later, police stated they had identified the SUV’s driver as Cisneros and arrested him.
According to an arrest warrant obtained by Las Vegas CBS affiliate KLAS, the individual who contacted 911 reported that Rivera was on the hood of the car, pleading for her purse, when Cisneros reportedly accelerated the vehicle, causing her to be pushed off.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office found Rivera’s cause of death was blunt force trauma, but her manner of death is still marked as “pending.”
Investigators found security tape that allegedly showed Cisneros, “made deliberate accelerations and hard braking with [Rivera] on the hood of the SUV at least twice, in a calculated attempt to remove her from the vehicle.”
Following Rivera’s death, Cisneros attempted to turn himself in many times, according to KLAS. He initially phoned the police on June 30, but the department did not get the call because it was a Sunday. He called back the next day and wanted to talk with a detective, but the outcome was uncertain.
Cisneros also went to the Clark County Detention Center to turn himself in, but he was reportedly turned away and told there was no warrant out for his arrest.

Following his arrest, Cisneros allegedly told police that he and Rivera were bickering while she was on the hood of the car, and he was only trying to get her off.
“At some point during the struggle, Alondra threw a drink at Alejandro,” according to a probable cause affidavit. “He also claimed she bit his thumb, but couldn’t describe how or when it happened. Alejandro acknowledged snatching her hair throughout the altercation as well.”
In the same document, Cisneros “provided the excuse he did not want to go to jail for domestic violence and claimed he did not know [Rivera] was injured or dead until the following day.”
“He believed she would be fine because she was a strong woman,” according to the affidavit.
According to Lawandcrime, Cisneros is presently jailed without bond at the Clark County Detention Center. He is set to appear in court again on August 1.
