A migrant living illegally in the United States shot and wounded a Texas police officer early Sunday morning, according to several law enforcement sources.
Jorge Chacon-Gutierrez, 25, a Venezuelan national, was killed after a gunfight with San Antonio Police Department officers. It’s unknown whether he was slain by authorities or committed suicide.

The incident started when the SAPD responded to a domestic violence call at 3 a.m. According to Fox News, SAPD officers spotted the man lying in bed with a gun. The man started shooting at officers before they returned fire. A female police officer was injured in the shooting.
Sources tell Fox News that the cop was shot several times. She had surgery on Sunday morning and is expected to live.

Law enforcement investigators eventually learned that Chacon-Gutierrez was captured by Border Patrol in November 2023 after unlawfully entering Eagle Pass, Texas. Chacon-Gutierrez was captured and released into the United States, with a court date scheduled for April 2026.
