A North Carolina man assisted authorities in putting him in prison after posting images of himself on social media with the firearm he used to commit two crimes, officials said.

On Tuesday, July 16, Dena J. King, United States Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina, announced that 27-year-old Hasahn Riyardt Flowe had been sentenced to 117 months in prison, or more than nine years. He will also serve three years of supervised release after completing his prison sentence.

Robert M. DeWitt, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Charlotte Division, and Chief Johnny Jennings of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department joined King in announcing Flowe’s sentence.

According to the news announcement, the 27-year-old carried out two armed robberies in 2023.

The first incident occurred on January 22, 2023, when Flowe entered Sam’s Mart at 2630 Beatties Ford Road in Charlotte at 6:17 p.m. with a red bandana covering the bottom half of his face. He was equipped with a pistol.

When he entered the convenience shop, the only other person present was an employee. According to court documents, the individual’s name is A.R.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, Flowe warned A.R. that he had just gotten out of prison and that he would shoot her if she continued to speak. During this moment, he pointed his revolver at her and demanded that she hand him the money from the register. The woman agreed, and Flowe took the money and fled the scene.

The second incident occurred on February 8, 2023, at 6:29 p.m. at the 7-Eleven located at 4255 Statesville Road in Charlotte. Flowe wore the same red scarf to cover his lower face and carried the same weapon as in the previous robbery.

The 7-Eleven was empty save for one employee named T.R.

Flowe once again displayed his firearm to the convenience shop employee and demanded that they hand him the money from the register. When the employee saw the gun, he escaped out the back door.

Flowe attempted to take the money out of the register himself. While he was behind the desk, a client strolled in but quickly exited into the parking lot when they saw what was going on.

Unable to enter the cash drawer without the employee’s assistance, Flowe took the handbag they had left behind and fled the scene.

Police tracked down Flowe a week later after he posted images on his social media account of himself clutching the identical pistol used in the robbery and attempted robbery. He was arrested on February 15, 2023. During his detention, police discovered the handgun used in the robberies, according to prosecutors.

On October 19, 2023, Flowe pleaded guilty to Hobbs Act robbery, as well as possessing and brandishing a pistol in furtherance of a violent felony.
