Police in Bristol, southern England, said they are looking for a guy who was acting suspiciously on a local bridge just before the discovery of two suitcases suspected to contain human remains.

Avon and Somerset Police officers arrived at the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge about midnight Wednesday, just 10 minutes after getting complaints of the guy acting abnormally. But the man, who had arrived by taxi, had already left.

“This is a very disturbing incident, and I fully understand the concern it will cause in our communities,” Acting Bristol Commander Vicks Hayward-Melen said.

Police, who are working with the coastguard, said they were still “working out” the man’s identity and issued an image, but cautioned the public not to approach him.

“Our immediate priority is to locate the man who took the suitcases to the bridge, identify the deceased, and inform their next of kin,” she said.

The Clifton Suspension Bridge, created by pioneering engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, is one of the world’s oldest remaining suspension bridges. Isambard Kingdom Brunel, a prominent Victorian engineer, created the landmark bridge that crosses the Avon Gorge.

The Avon Gorge Bridge, first opened in 1864, is one of Bristol’s most popular tourist attractions and a symbol of the city CBS stated.

“Specialist crime scene investigators are currently examining the bridge and surrounding area, and the bridge will remain closed while these inquiries are conducted,” she informed us. In a statement, police said they were checking security footage and attempting to track the man’s actions after he departed the bridge.

“At this time, we are not aware of any current risk to the general public,” the police statement read.

The ghastly find came only one day after police in England arrested a 26-year-old guy after an hours-long manhunt for the murders of three people with a crossbow.
