Ohio Mother Fatally Struck Stopping Car Theft With Her 6-year-old Son Inside

An Ohio mother was killed when she was struck by a vehicle when she was attempting to prevent two men from taking her car while her kid, who was six years old, was now inside.

According to the authorities, the youngster was not hurt, and there were no other injuries that were reported.

At approximately 1:30 in the morning on Thursday, Alexa Stakely, who is 29 years old and is from Pickerington, was at an apartment complex in Columbus to retrieve her son from a babysitter. According to the Columbus police, Stakely was a single mother who worked as a speech-language pathologist for the Canal Winchester Local Schools district. In addition, she worked as a server and had just concluded a shift when she was employed in that capacity.

According to the authorities, Stakely initially brought the sleeping youngster to her vehicle, which she had left running, and then she went back to the building where the babysitter was staying to retrieve the child’s possessions. As Stakely was making her way back to her vehicle, she noticed that someone was beginning to back it out onto the traffic. She immediately went toward the car, yelling for her kid and requesting that the driver stop.

In addition to being knocked to the ground, Stakely sustained a head injury as a result of being struck by the car. A hospital official confirmed that she had passed away ABC7 stated.

The two guys reportedly abandoned the vehicle a short distance away from the location where Stakely was struck, and then they rushed passed her as they left by leaping a fence and walking into an apartment complex that was located nearby, according to the police. Even on Friday, they were still at large.

According to the police, surveillance footage had captured a group of guys peering at apartments in another neighboring complex earlier that morning. The police stated that the men matched the description of the individuals who were subsequently spotted sprinting by Stakely.
