On July 4th, a woman drowned after falling from a boat.

The Montgomery County Pct. 1 Constable reported this week that it got a 911 call around 8:59 p.m. local time on Thursday from a lady who had “fallen off a boat near the Scott’s Ridge Boat Ramp” in Lake Conroe.

Several departments “responded to the area” at the time, and divers found the woman about 11:30 p.m.

Authorities have identified the lady as 31-year-old Jerri MacMeekin. On July 4, Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens arrested two men: Jerri’s brother, Kyle MacMeekin, 29, and Shane Annboli, 44, and charged them with boating while intoxicated.

When officials arrived on the site, they discovered that two boats, including one pontoon boat, had been running together, and two men and a woman dived into the water to rescue Jerri, but they were unable to locate her, according to the Montgomery County Police Reporter, citing police records. (The woman who dived in for the rescue was also reported missing at one point, according to the publication.)

According to the Police Reporter, divers discovered Jerri’s body roughly an hour after the woman was located.

The operators of both boats were then detained and placed in Montgomery County Jail, according to the Police Reporter. Both men and their claimed charges are not on the jail’s current inmate roster.

According to data obtained by the Police Reporter, Kyle was issued a $3,000 bond, while Anniboli was given a $1,000 bond. According to Law & Crime, both guys were eventually released from detention.

“We never enjoy pulling people out of the water, especially on a holiday weekend when you should be having fun and spending time with your family,” Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office Capt. Miguel Rosario told NBC station KPRC.

Jerri was not wearing a life jacket when she was retrieved from the ocean, according to PEOPLE.

“All the divers I know, they’ve never pulled anybody out of the water that’s been wearing a life jacket,” said the captain, Rosario.

Philip Cash issued a remark at the end of the Montgomery County Pct. 1 Constable’s Facebook post, expressing his “deepest condolences to the victim’s family and friends.”
