23-year-old in Custody for First-degree Murder of Former Stepfather in Fort Lauderdale

A man who is 23 years old was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder after it was reported to the police that he had shot and killed his former stepfather on Saturday morning in Fort Lauderdale.

According to Fort Lauderdale police Det. Ali Adamson, officers responded to the 100 block of Nurmi Drive at approximately 10:45 a.m. and discovered a deceased man, who was identified as Christian Colon, who was 44 years old.

As far as the authorities are concerned, the shooting took place on the street, and it is possible that it took place in the house where they had previously shared a home.

The ex-stepson of Colon, Darien Massad Turner, was taken into custody not long after the finding was discovered by the law enforcement officers. The location and manner in which they seized Turner are not entirely established.

His booking took place on Saturday, and he is currently being held without bond at the Broward County Main Jail. According to the property records of Broward County, Jessica Massad, Turner’s mother, has been the owner of the five-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bathroom home located at 112 Nurmi Drive in the Nurmi Isles location since the year 2016 miamiherald stated.

The divorce between Massad and Colon was finalized in October 2023, one month after Massad filed for divorce. Massad had been married to Colon since August 2011.
