During August, a candidate for the Florida Senate is being investigated for grand theft in Orange County, which involves a homeowner’s association. The trial is expected to begin in September.
The theft of approximately $48,000 from a homeowners association for a community in east Orange County has been the subject of an investigation that has lasted for years. Cheryl Blancett, who is 63 years old, is currently facing charges related to the fraud.
From April 2018 through August 2019, Blancett was employed by the officials of the Sawgrass Estates HOA to administer their subdivision, as stated in the arrest report. Blancett is accused by the investigators of misappropriating monies belonging to the HOA with cash belonging to her account, as well as utilizing funds for personal needs and makes purchases that were not authorized by the HOA.
It is believed that Blancett is responsible for the theft of $47,22.34 from the HOA. Her no-guilty plea has been submitted.
Blancett is a candidate for the Republican nomination in the campaign for the Senate seat representing District 13 in Florida, which includes portions of Orange and Lake counties. She is running for office under the name “CJ” Blancett.
On August 20, she will compete against Bowen Kou, a businessman, and Keith Truenow, a former representative from Florida who is leaving the House of Representatives.
Kou is now suing the Florida Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee for libel in response to a political mailer that raises doubts about whether or not he and his contributors have any connections to the Chinese government. Kou is an American citizen. The mailer had been sent out on behalf of Truenow, and it claims his consent as the reason.
In November, the winner of the primary election held on August 20 will compete against Stephanie Dukes, a Democrat.
