Van Buren County, Michigan — When you leave your babies in the care of someone else, you expect them to take care of them the way you would take care of them yourself,” a grandma of two children attending Little Cubs Daycare said, remaining anonymous.

Child abuse and sexual assault can occur in a home-run daycare.

Currently under investigation, a husband and couple who were arrested by deputies of the Van Buren County Sheriff have several counts against them.

The claimed sexual abuse occurred in Gobles’ daycare. Deputies request people to examine these two faces closely: married couple Jesse Stone, 46, and Stephanie Stone, 38.

Officials inform News Channel 3 that this began following a tip regarding similar criminal behavior from LaGrange, Indiana. “They were arranged today on abuse and sexual assault allegations,” Captain James Charon of Van Buren County Sheriff said.

Officials investigating alleged abuse or neglect claims within the couple’s nursery, Little Cubs Daycare, according to Charon. The couple also resided here.

“She truly did not want to go to daycare a few times last year. Looking back, the unnamed grandmother remarked, “I wonder if that had anything to do with it.”

The daycare’s doors are locked on Tuesdays; a handwritten letter stating “closed until further notice” is posted on the door.

“With the charges presented against them, this is shocking to all of us. Last night, my daughter did have a difficult chat with both of the kids, the anonymous grandma added.

Youngsters both claim they were never touched inappropriately.

The oldest of the two children counters, saying Stephanie, one of the two in custody, can be nasty.

The child remembered a time when helping a smaller child who was trying to devour a bottle of diaper rash cream that had been left lying out.

“She went to help, and Stephanie snapped at her, grabbed her shoulders, and shooed her off,” the grandma alleged.

Right now Jesse Stone is under custody in Van Buren County. Court records state he has been charged 13 times:

  • First-degree criminal sex behavior counts two times.
  • Two counts of second-degree criminal sexual activity.
  • Two counts for second-degree child abuse.
  • Four counts of felonies about guns.
  • Two counts of third-degree child abuse.
  • One instance of domestic violence
  • His bond is specified as $750,000 cash/surety.

Court documents show Stephanie Stone faced one count of second-degree child abuse and two counts of third-degree child abuse.

Her bond was set at $100,000 cash/surety upnorthlive stated.

“I regulate.” The grandmother remarked, “I’m scared; this world has become just so chaotic with this kind of stuff.”

Captain Charon stated, “We hope that we can find out if there are any further victims since there is a daycare there and so that we can try to provide some closure to those victims if they’re out there. On July 17 Jesse and Stephanie Stone are expected back in court for a probable cause hearing; on July 23 they have a preliminary exam.
