A person who is suspected of shooting and killing a man who was a father of six outside of his own home in Monrovia has been legally charged with the murder of the individual.
There is a single count of murder against Christopher Wiggan, who is 42 years old, and there is an additional allegation that he used a firearm to accomplish the crime.
Wiggan is suspected of being the person responsible for the death of Nicolas Gandara, who was 38 years old, on the evening of June 2 on the 700 block of West Duarte Road.
As stated by the District Attorney’s Office of Los Angeles County, Gandara made an effort to mediate a dispute that was taking place between Wiggan and one of the victim’s neighbors.
Wiggan is accused of shooting Gandara in the neck, causing his death, and then fleeing the scene of the crime.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, he was discovered and arrested the following afternoon after returning to the location where the crime had occurred.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of an innocent husband and father of six who was senselessly shot and killed outside of his own home,” said District Attorney Gascón. “It is a tragedy that I believe will never be forgotten.” “I would like to express my most sincere condolences to the family of the victim and provide you with the assurance that we are here to support you in any way that we can.”
It was also said by him that “heinous acts of violence” will not be accepted, and he stated that his agency is dedicated to “seeking justice for the victim and his family.”
For his part, Wiggan made an appearance in court on Friday and pleaded not guilty, according to Gascón.
It is scheduled for him to appear in court once more on June 20. He is still being held without bail.
Wiggan faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of release if he is found guilty of the allegations which have been brought against him.
An inquiry into the matter is currently being conducted by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
