An Idaho jury is scheduled to consider the death penalty Friday after convicting a man of murdering his first wife and two children.
According to a report, an Ada County jury convicted Chad Daybell guilty Thursday of first-degree murder and conspiracy counts in connection with the deaths of his first wife and his second wife’s two children.
The prosecution claims Daybell murdered Tammy Daybell, 16-year-old Tylee Ryan, and 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallo out of greed, power, sex, and weird spiritual ideas, and the state seeks the death penalty.
According to authorities, the murders were committed in pursuit of “what he saw as his rightful destiny.”
Lori Vallow Daybell, the murderer’s second wife, was recently convicted of conspiracy charges related to Tammy Daybell’s death as well as murder charges relating to the murders of her two children, according to the story. She was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole.
The bodies of Tylee Ryan and JJ Vallo were discovered in Daybell’s backyard in June 2020, but the two kids were suspected to have been murdered in 2019, and Tammy Daybell’s corpse was discovered in October 2019, according to the report.
“The following month, his wife was discovered dead in their marital bed. Seventeen days after his wife, Tammy Daybell, died, this defendant is photographed laughing and dancing on a beach in Hawaii during his wedding to Lori Vallow, his lover and the mother of the children buried in the graves on his property,” said Prosecutor Rob Wood. “Three dead bodies.”
“This is a sad day. “JJ would have been 12 years old,” JJ Vallo’s grandfather, Larry Woodcock, said after Thursday’s decision. “What have they accomplished? Nothing. What did they do? “They destroyed families.”
Woodcock claims that Daybell and his second wife were unable to erase the memories of those they killed.
“They can’t take that,” he remarked.
