Family relatives say actor Johnny Wactor was shot and died on Saturday in downtown Los Angeles during an attempted theft attempt. This was 37 years ago.
In 2020–2022, Wactor played Brandon Corbin in 164 episodes of the ABC Daytime soap series General Hospital. Among the numerous other series Wactor starred in were Army Wives, Westworld, Criminal Minds, and NCIS.
The victim, who the Los Angeles Police Department did not identify but characterized as a Caucasian male between the ages of 30 and 35, came upon three individuals who were trying to take the catalytic converter off of his car at approximately 3:35 a.m. on Saturday morning. “A gun was produced by one of them, who shot the victim. Gunshots struck the victim, an LAPD spokesman told the Daily Beast. Following his transportation to a nearby hospital, the man was declared dead.
Police said the three suspects fled in a car and are still at large.
Relatives recognized Wactor. Scarlett, Wactor’s mother, initially verified his death to TMZ; Grant, his younger brother, then confirmed it to KTLA.

Wictor’s skill On Sunday, David Shaul told Variety that the actor had passed away.
A remarkable individual, Johnny Wactor was. Not simply a gifted actor dedicated to his art, but to everyone he came into contact with, a true moral role model. Representing perseverance, hard work, and a never-give-up mentality. He always maintained his chin up and his goal of becoming the best he could be in the highs and lows of a demanding career said, Shaul.
We would desire everyone to have the privilege of spending time with Johnny. He would genuinely hand you his shirt off his back. He will leave a void in our hearts forever after more than ten years together, he wrote.
Star of General Hospital Jon Lindstrom also commented on X about Wactor’s passing. “I am sick to my stomach at this news, when the tears slow down,” Lindstrom wrote. “Johnny was one of those uncommon young men in this industry who was modest, kind, and always considered the needs of others. A young boy with brilliance who only wants to let the world know about it. Though I am aware that it is impossible, I wish I had enough love to fill the void that his loved ones must be feeling right now. On this plane, Johnny will be missed.
Posting as well, longtime General Hospital star Nancy Lee Grahn called Wactor’s untimely passing “tragic, enraging & heartbreaking.”
In a statement on X, ABC’s General Hospital said, “The General Hospital family is devastated to learn about Johnny Wactor’s sudden death. He was a real gem to work with every single day and genuinely one of a kind. We are thinking of and praying for his family during this trying time.
