David Chun has been hired as the chief information officer (CIO) of Montclair State University in New Jersey, where he will oversee the whole information technology department. On May 1, 2024, he will assume the position.
According to the university, Chun is a professor who is dedicated to his student’s academic progress and has decades of experience as a CIO at both public and private universities.
His most recent post at Sonoma State University was associate vice president and chief information officer. He formerly worked as associate vice president and chief information officer at Hamline University in St. Paul, assistant dean at the University of Miami’s Herbert Business School, and IT director for some Fortune 500 organizations.
Chun will be responsible for all IT planning, management, and supervision for the university’s Division of Information Technology, as well as personnel management, in his new post at Montclair.
He will be in charge of arranging and monitoring both wired and wireless networks, IT security, payroll and human resources, the student information system, the application portal, the identity and access management system, and technical support for instructors, staff, and students.
Chun graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree and is now pursuing an advanced degree at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
