There is a bipartisan effort to free up $45 million in funding for the Hoover Dam, and the congressional delegation from Nevada has joined this effort.
The Help Hoover Dam Act is being co-sponsored by Dina Titus, Mark Amodei, Steven Horsford, and Susie Lee, who are all lawmakers of the United States House of Lawmakers as well.
Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen, both members of the United States Senate, have also signed on to the corresponding measure presented in the Senate. They are joined by six other members of the House of Representatives, as well as every senator from the states of Arizona and California.
According to the office of Lee, forty-five million dollars from the Colorado River Dam fund have been unavailable for decades. The measure would invest those funds in the upkeep and enhancement of Hoover Dam.
“We can’t let government bureaucracy stop us from making necessary investments in the Hoover Dam — Nevadans depend on it for clean power, precious water resources, and countless recreational opportunities,” Lee said in a statement that was released. “This commonsense, bipartisan legislation will help keep our energy prices from going up, protect our natural resources, and save taxpayers money.”
The bill introduced in the House of Representatives has been sent to the Natural Resources Committee for consideration.
