Waipahu was unable to break out of their slump on Wednesday, as the squad suffered their third consecutive loss. They suffered an 8-2 loss to the Nanakuli Golden Hawks. Waipahu had a dose of their own medicine in this game, as Nanakuli appeared to have not forgotten their defeat the last time these sides met in April 2022.

Waipahu saw five different players get at least one hit. Mason Salausa-Galletes went 1-for-3 with a triple.

Jordan Kay made an impression on Nanakuli’s team by hitting and pitching well. On the mound, he pitched five innings, allowing only two earned runs on three hits. Kay also performed well in the batter’s box, finishing 2-for-4 with a stolen base, a double, and an RBI.

In other batting news, the squad leaned heavily on Ezra Kanakaole, who scored three runs, stole two bases, and reached base in three of his four plate appearances. Carmelo Fuller also contributed, going 1-for-4 with a triple and a run.

Waipahu’s loss decreased their record to 0-3. Nanakuli’s victory (their first of the season) brought their record to 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in the next games. Waipahu will face Campbell at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Nanakuli will face Mililani in front of their home crowd on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
