WEST ALABAMA, AL. You surely noticed that the last time you stopped for petrol, the prices were rising.
Gas Buddy reports that prices have climbed for three weeks in a row across the country, including Alabama. We checked with AAA on Tuesday, and the current price of gasoline is $3.18 a gallon, up 10 cents from a week ago.
AAA thinks we shouldn’t be too astonished. The explanation is that spring has arrived, which began officially on Tuesday.
According to AAA, gasoline costs normally remain low during the winter months of January and February. So, as the weather improves and it’s spring break, the tiny increase in gasoline costs will persist.
“The blue sky is returned. People are getting out more. Demand begins to rise, and once that happens, our prices follow suit, so I believe we will continue to see rates rise slowly but steadily throughout the spring, with our high point of the year often occurring around Memorial Day,” said AAA Marketing Director Clay Ingram.
According to Ingram, diesel costs are $3.84 a gallon, 25 cents lower than they were a year ago.
