Sky21– Monday morning lows in the teens to the 20s will make for a cool start to the workweek. It has been cold for a long time, which means that soon many of our blooming trees’ blooms will turn brown.
Over the next 24 hours, an area of high pressure that is headed toward the poles will move eastward. This will get rid of the cold and raise temperatures above normal once southerly winds start blowing by Tuesday.
It won’t be nearly as cold Monday night.
We’ll be back in the 60s and 70s by Tuesday when the winds get warmer.
By Wednesday, a storm from the west will be getting closer to us. At the same time, a second cold front from the north will move in and help direct the next chance of rain across southern Kansas on Wednesday and Thursday.
Even a small hint of a stronger northerly push could push this even farther south by the middle of the week. Southwest Kansas is where there is the best chance of a few bigger thunderstorms. Oklahoma’s Beaver and Harper counties could be hit by one or two very bad storms.
Another piece of energy by Friday keeps the chance of rain and snow mostly over Northeast Kansas. There were clouds all over the area this weekend as a stronger storm came together.
It will be cooler on Saturday than on Sunday. It will meet more moisture on Sunday, which could lead to a few bigger storms near and east of the Turnpike through Sunday evening.
Behind this storm, temperatures will be much cooler to start next week. It won’t feel like spring at all.
