On Tuesday, more money was sent to food banks all over New York State. Broadview Federal Credit Union gave more than $380,000 to 46 different groups.
The money is going to food banks, shelters, and other charities that help people who don’t have enough food. It comes at a time when food banks have to deal with rising prices and more families than ever before.
Exec. Dir. of Hope 7 Community Center Margaret Elliott said, “In 2022 and 2021, we spent about $2,500 a month on food. Now, in 2023, we spend between $3,500 and $4,500 a month on food.”
Broadview formally presented the checks on Tuesday morning, followed by giving each person their own check. Nonprofits in the Capital Region, the Southern Tier, Central New York, and Western New York all got checks.
