Albany, Georgia (WALB) Tonight: Rain is unlikely to fall throughout the rest of the day. However, we are picking some clouds during the night. A few scattered showers may occur in the morning on Tuesday, but dense fog will be the primary worry for locations east of I-75. Plan properly for morning travel. Tonight’s lows are in the high 50s and low 60s.
Tuesday will be damp and mild. Temperatures will remain in the 60s and low 70s. Rainfall will be heavy at times, with the biggest amounts falling in the afternoon and evening. The Weather Prediction Center has issued a Marginal Risk for most of South Georgia due to excessive rains, raising concerns of flash flooding. Rainfall could total up to one inch. Rainfall will finish overnight on Tuesday. Low temperatures will continue in the 50s.
Wednesday and Thursday will be the following dry days in the forecast. Temperatures will swiftly rebound, with highs expected to linger in the upper 70s for both days. A few 1980s are also probable. The main difference will be the decrease in clouds on Wednesday against the full sun on Thursday. These will be ideal days for planning outdoor activities.
Friday and Saturday: Starting Friday, clouds will return to the region as a frontal system forms to our west. This frontal system will bring the next chance of showers and thunderstorms. Current forecasts hold severe weather to our west on Friday, but Saturday might see a major storm or two when the cold front moves across the region. Flooding will be the most serious concern at this time. We will keep you informed of any changes to the prediction. Highs will linger in the mild 70s until a cold front brings temperatures down to the 40s on Saturday night.
Sunday and Monday: We’ll finish the weekend drier and cooler. Temperatures will fall into the upper 60s and lows will be in the 40s through the beginning of next week.
