According to the Delaware Department of Justice, the pair from Kent County who admitted guilt in September for repeatedly abusing and torturing their two children have collectively received sentences totaling over 150 years in prison.

Mary Vinson, aged 46, admitted guilt last year to 30 felony charges, including kidnapping, child abuse, strangulation, and reckless endangerment.

She had been subject to a potential sentence ranging from a minimum of 30 years to a maximum of 444 years.

Likewise, Charles Vinson, aged 37, the father of the boys, received a sentence of 49 years on Thursday.

He pleaded guilty to 12 felony charges, facing a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of 158 years.

Despite defense pleas for minimum sentencing, Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Clarke opted against it, citing the egregious nature of the crimes, including their extreme cruelty.

Judge Clarke noted that the surveillance footage capturing the large closet where the boys endured nakedness and starvation in appalling conditions did not fully encapsulate the extent of their suffering.

According to the Delaware Department of Justice, the pair from Kent County who admitted guilt in September for repeatedly abusing and torturing their two children have collectively received sentences totaling over 150 years in prison.

The Vinsons were initially charged in late 2022 with 646 offenses, as per Delaware prosecutors, who characterized the incidents as a pattern of child abuse and torture.

Mary Vinson subsequently admitted guilt to 30 felonies, encompassing child abuse, kidnapping, strangulation, attempted assault, and providing false information to law enforcement.

Similarly, Charles Vinson pleaded guilty to 12 felonies and one misdemeanor, also involving related charges.

According to the prosecution, the boys endured abuse spanning 20 months, commencing in early 2020.

One child was between 9 to 10 years old at the onset of the abuse, while the other suffered between the ages of 11 and 13.

Both children were repeatedly hospitalized due to severe malnutrition, with one requiring nearly a month-long hospitalization.

The Division of Family Services eventually assumed custody of the boys in October 2021.

Authorities detailed the abuse, which included forcing the boys to stand immobile for extended durations, depriving them of food and water, coercing them to eat, and physically assaulting and strangling them.

Prosecutor Kristin Dewalt disclosed that the children were compelled to cleanse themselves using water contaminated with their own waste.
