A 72-year-old man from Detroit is being charged with murder after it was reported to the police that he had shot and killed his wife.
Mr. George Douglas Thomas is being charged with first-degree murder and felony firearm, according to the Detroit police department.
The incident that led to the shooting took place on July 26 in the 19400 block of Five Points Street. Officers were dispatched to that location in response to a complaint of a shooting, where they discovered a woman who received several gunshot wounds.
She was taken to the hospital by medical personnel for treatment, but she failed to survive her injuries and passed away.
Thomas allegedly shot her while he owned a firearm, according to the police.
On July 30, the 72-year-old individual was brought before the court, and on August 6, he was subjected to a competency evaluation. According to the Detroit Police Department, a hearing regarding competency is scheduled for November 6th.
