After a car was stolen in the Bronx on Sunday, a man who was 53 years old was taken into custody and charged with the crime. The automobile was stolen with a six-month-old child inside.
At approximately 11:30 a.m., the family of the youngster went into a bakery located at the intersection of East 146th Street and Third Avenue. Upon returning to the front door, they discovered that the car had been taken.
Victor Matos was seen on surveillance cameras stealing the vehicle shortly after the child had been inside the vehicle for more than 10 minutes.
Eyewitness News was informed by a member of the family that they had the impression that Matos was attempting to target them.
“The bakery told us he was watching him the whole time,” according to her account.
The New York Police Department reports that a gold Chrysler Minivan bearing Pennsylvania license plates was accidentally left running with the keys inside.
Observer of Bennie Valenti stated that he was able to identify the culprit when he initially arrived after pulling up.
“Skinny guy with a beard, long hair, opened the trunk and took some stuff,” he stated in response.
The individual under suspicion attempted to steal the radio in addition to unloading a cooler and a small grill.
The automobile was discovered, according to the police, at the intersection of Casanova Street and Oak Point Avenue.
Without any injuries, the infant was discovered inside the vehicle.
