5.3 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE HITS KERN COUNTY: Aftershocks Felt Across Los Angeles and Orange County

On Tuesday night, a 5.3 magnitude earthquake struck Kern County, with its epicenter in Lamont, California, near Bakersfield.

The 5.3 earthquake struck at 9:09 p.m. PT, followed by many aftershocks.

The earthquake was felt throughout Los Angeles and Orange County.

Following the primary quake, more than a dozen aftershocks occurred, including one measuring 4.5 magnitude and another measuring 4.1 magnitude, all of which were located in the same location.

The USGS noted that earthquakes continue to occur in the Grapevine area, which is located between Santa Clarita, north of Los Angeles, and Kern County.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office, no damage has been reported in LA County as of yet. However, the Los Angeles Fire Department is prepared for an earthquake.
